How to List Products on Amazon via Omnivore

This guide explains how to list your products on Amazon using Omnivore, whether adding to an existing ASIN or creating a new listing.

1. Understanding Amazon Listings

  • ASINs: Each product on Amazon has an Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN).

  • Adding Offers: If your product already exists, you will link it to the existing ASIN.

  • Creating New Listings: If no ASIN exists, you will create a new listing via Omnivore.

Note: Creating duplicate ASINs for existing products can cause listing errors or rejection.

GTINs and Exemptions

  • Most products require valid GTINs (UPC, EAN, ISBN).

  • GTINs must be issued by GS1; non‑GS1 codes may be rejected.

  • GTIN exemption: For private-label, handmade, or custom products, you can request a GTIN exemption in Amazon Seller Central. Click here for more information.

You can check GTIN existence here.

ASIN Matching

  • Use Omnivore’s ASIN matching feature to link your product to an existing Amazon ASIN.

  • Proper matching prevents duplicates and ensures your product updates correctly.

Read more about using this feature here.

Category Mapping

Before a product can be listed on Amazon, you will need to specify which category the product should be listed in.  You can find more help on category mapping here.

Some Amazon categories will require approval from Amazon before you will be able to list products in them. To see the list of categories where you will need approval and the process to obtain approval, you can visit this Amazon help page:

Image Requirements

Ensure images meet Amazon’s requirements:

  • Main image with white background
  • Clear, high-resolution images
  • Additional images for variations or lifestyle shots

You can view the full list of image requirements here.

Marketplace Attributes

Some categories require additional product attributes. Examples:

  • Toys: Age range

  • Food & Beverage: Expiry dates

Add these in Omnivore under the Marketplace Attributes tab before uploading. You can learn more about adding marketplace attributes on this page.  The first two FAQ's at the top of the page provide the setup guides.

Suppressed Listings

  • Products may be “Active” in Omnivore but not visible on Amazon if Amazon suppresses them for missing or incorrect data.

  • Check Omnivore’s Listing Errors dashboard regularly to resolve issues quickly.

You can also run Amazon's Suppressed Listings report to get more details on what is needed to remove the suppression.
